Bergen's Men's Track & Field team has qualified for nationals.
Men's Team is headed to the 2017 NJCAA National Meet on May 11-13 at Howard CC in Columbia, Maryland.
Paramus, NJ - Bergen's Men's Track & Field team has qualified for nationals. Men's Team is headed to the 2017 NJCAA National Meet on May 11-13 at Howard CC in Columbia, Maryland. This year's Men's Track & Field team is that largest roster ever sent to nationals in its 50 year history.
The team has some high hopes this year, because of a strong crop of freshman and two strong sophomores. Sophomore, Connor McGillick (Saddle Brook, NJ) will be looking to have a big weekend in 1500m, 5000m & 10.000m event. Connor is currently ranked #6in the nation in the 10,000 Meter race.
Freshman, Mateusz Wierzba (Garfield, NJ) also will be looking to impress at nationals. Mateusz is ranked #2 in the Long Jump and 5th in the nation in the Triple Jump. Teammate, Syed Mahmood has also qualified for the Long Jump event.
Freshman, Connor Best (Washington TWP., NJ) has a strong chance in the Shot Put and Discus events. Connor is currently ranked 2nd in the nation in the Discus event and 7th in the nation in the Shot Put even.
Muhammad Ombali has shown he has the potential to do some damage at nationals in the 110 Meter Hurdles. He is currently ranked 8th in the nation.
The 4X800 Relay team is also looking to make some noise at nationals. Christopher Loughman (Dumont, NJ), Christopher Barcenas (Rutherford, NJ), Joseph Lopez (Hackensack, NJ), Nikko Reyes (Bergenfield, NJ) & Kacper Wrobel (Saddle Brook, NJ) are currently ranked 3rd in the nation with a time of 8:40.89.
The 4X100 Relay team has also qualified for nationals. Shaheed Brimley-Thompson (Paterson, NJ), Justin Jusino (Dumont, NJ), Davon Peters (Teaneck, NJ), & Tariq LaCourt (Fort Lee, NJ) are currently ranked 14th in the nation.
