Bergen Cross Country Finishes Strong at NJCAA Region XIX Championship
PARAMUS, N.J. — The Bergen Community College men's and women's cross country teams turned in impressive performances at the NJCAA Region XIX Championship, highlighted by standout freshman Kelly Marquez, who finished 7th overall to earn First Team All-Region honors.
The Bergen women's team delivered a strong showing, securing a 4th-place finish among a competitive regional field. Marquez led the way with her top-10 finish, setting the pace for the Bulldogs and capping off a season marked by steady improvement and determination. Her All-Region recognition cements her as one of the top runners in the region and a key piece of Bergen's rising program.
On the men's side, the Bulldogs placed 5th overall, demonstrating depth and consistency throughout the lineup. Under the leadership of the coaching staff, the men's team showcased steady progress throughout the season, culminating in a strong regional performance against some of the best two-year college programs in the Northeast.
"Both teams worked incredibly hard this season and represented Bergen with pride," said Head Coach Fletcher. "Kelly's top-10 finish and All-Region honor are a testament to her dedication, and our team results show that Bergen cross country continues to move in the right direction."
