Bergen Community College Wrestling Edges Northampton 29–28 in Thrilling Dual Victory
Paramus, N.J. (December 3, 2025) – In a hard-fought matchup that came down to the final bouts, the Bergen Community College men's wrestling team secured a narrow 29–28 victory over Northampton Community College on Wednesday night. The win showcased resilience across the roster, highlighted by key pins and bonus-point performances that ultimately proved decisive.
Bergen's momentum began at 165 pounds, where Kevin Castellano delivered a crucial pin, energizing the Bulldogs and setting the tone for the middleweight stretch. At 174 pounds, Alex Gossin continued the surge with a dominant major decision, adding valuable bonus points to keep Bergen within striking distance.
The Bulldogs struck again at 184 pounds, as Ayden Patchin overpowered his opponent and recorded another pin, tightening the score in what became a back-and-forth battle between the two Region XIX programs.
Bergen sealed the victory behind strong contributions in the upper weights. At 197 pounds, Kai Argyros collected a forfeit win, pushing Bergen ahead in the team score. Heavyweight Diego Camargo followed with a forfeit victory at 285 pounds, giving Bergen the final points needed to edge Northampton by a single point.
Head Coach, Rey Miller, praised the team's grit and composure under pressure. "Close duals come down to who can step up in critical moments," he said. "Our guys showed heart from start to finish, and every point mattered today."
With the win, Bergen continues to build momentum as they move deeper into their 2025–26 campaign.
