Alex Gossin Earns District Title and Multiple Wrestlers Earn Podium Finishes at NJCAA District Championships
PARAMUS, N.J. — The Bergen Community College wrestling team delivered a standout performance at the NJCAA District Championships, highlighted by a district championship, a runner-up finish, and multiple podium placements as the Bulldogs competed against the region's top NJCAA programs.
District Champion: Alex Gossin 174
Bergen's top finish came from sophomore Alex Gossin, who captured the district championship with a 7–4 decision victory in the finals over K. Sullivan from Garrett College. . Gossin advanced through the bracket with disciplined mat control and timely scoring, finishing his run with a composed performance in the championship bout.
District Finalist: Kai Argyros 197
Kai Argyros earned a runner-up finish after an impressive tournament run that included dominant victories in both the quarterfinals and semifinals. Argyros battled through a competitive championship match to secure second place and valuable team points for Bergen.
Third Place – Kevin Mederos 157
Kevin Mederos secured a third-place finish showcasing resilience and offensive consistency throughout the bracket. Mederos responded strongly in the consolation rounds and closed his tournament with a decisive performance to earn a spot on the podium for the Bulldogs.
His third-place finish adds to Bergen's strong overall team showing at the district level.
All three wrestlers will head to the NJCAA National Championships in Iowa on March 5th.
