New Sports Added for 2026-27 Season
Bergen Community College Athletics is proud to announce the addition of three new sports for the 2026-27 season: Men's Volleyball, Women's Wrestling, and Women's Club Flag Football, bringing our sports offerings to a total of 10 teams. "I'm proud to share that we are adding three new sports to our department at a time when many schools across the region are cutting their athletic programs," said BCC's Athletic Director Erin Van Nostrand. "These additions reflect our commitment to the success of our student-athletes by providing them transformational opportunities while also attracting new competitors to help our athletic program grow even stronger." The new sports being added are:
Women's Wrestling
Women's wrestling is one of the fastest growing collegiate sports nationwide, with participation exceeding over 50,000 high school students. Therefore, in accordance with the momentum of the sport and along with our commitment to elevating the student-athlete experience, Bergen will now have its own women's wrestling team, helmed by Head Coach Rey Miller. If interested in joining or to learn more, contact Coach Rey at rmiller2@bergen.edu
Men's Volleyball
We are thrilled to announce that Bergen will become the 20th school in the NJCAA to offer a men's volleyball team. The creation of a men's volleyball team reflects Bergen Athletic's dedication to providing our student-athletes with as many competitive opportunities as we can. Bron Schuler will serve as Bergen's first men's volleyball head coach with the season starting in the spring. For more information on how to join, contact Head Coach Bron at schuler.bron@gmail.com
Women's Club Flag Football
Women's flag football will be offered at the club level, as the sport is exploding in popularity and is currently moving through the NJCAA approval process. We are happy to join in on this momentum and are excited to be bringing new and exciting sports opportunities to our female student-athletes. Women's flag football will be led by Head Coach Rey Miller, who can be reached at rmiller2@bergen.edu for more information on how to get involved.
*Cross Country and Track & Field have been suspended for the upcoming 2026-2027 season. Any questions, comments, or concerns can be directed to Athletic Director Erin Van Nostrand at evannostrand@bergen.edu
