Bulldogs Complete Three-Game Sweep Over Delaware Count
PARAMUS, N.J. — The Bergen Community College baseball team delivered an emphatic statement with a dominant three-game sweep over Delaware County Community College, securing victories both at home and on the road in an explosive offensive showcase.
Game One – April 9 at Delaware County
In a wild back-and-forth battle on the road, the Bulldogs outlasted Delaware County 11-10. Bergen's offense erupted for 18 hits, led by sophomore designated hitter Reymon Steven Paulino, who went a perfect 5-for-5 at the plate, driving in 2 runs and scoring 3 times. Outfielder Chris Merrill added 3 RBI on 2 hits, and Domenic Maucione continued his hot streak with 3 hits and an RBI. On the mound, Justin Ramos earned the win with 6.0 solid innings, allowing just 2 earned runs, while Domenic Maucione closed the door in the ninth to seal the win.
Game Two – April 10 (Game 1 of Doubleheader) at Paramus
Back home in Paramus, the Bulldogs took control early and never looked back, defeating Delaware County 11-5 in Game 1 of the doubleheader. Chris Merrill led the offensive charge once again, launching a key double and driving in 3 runs. Freshman Wilfry Morillo added a 2-run homer, and Tyler Mertz followed suit with a 2-run blast of his own. On the hill, Cesar Peguero earned the win with 3 innings of work, while Seungwoo Jeon struck out four over two innings in relief.
Game Three – April 10 (Game 2 of Doubleheader) at Paramus
Bergen completed the sweep in the nightcap with a 9-6 win. Paulino continued to torment Delaware County pitching, driving in 4 runs on 2 hits, including a crucial bases-clearing double. Merrill, Maucione, and freshman Justin Mercadoeach contributed RBIs, while Kevin Soltys struck out 7 batters over 5.1 innings to earn the win. Jems Montero secured the save with 1.2 innings of shutout relief.
