Bulldogs Split With Onondaga CC
The Bergen Community College baseball team continued its strong start to play on Sunday afternoon, defeating Onondaga Community College, 9-3, at Breslin Field. The Bulldogs improved to 4-5 overall and remained unbeaten in conference action at 3-0 with the victory.
Bergen's offense came alive early and often, collecting nine hits while drawing eight walks in a balanced team effort. The Bulldogs broke the game open with a three-run second inning before adding two more runs in the fourth and four insurance runs in the sixth inning.
Freshman Trevor-Isaiah Eastman led the offensive attack, finishing 2-for-2 with a home run, two RBIs, and two stolen bases. Charlie Stevens also had a strong day at the plate, going 1-for-3 with a double, two RBIs, and two runs scored. Dylan Acevedo added two RBIs of his own, while Domenic Maucione and Dante Palazzo each drove in runs for Bergen.
Najib Duversaint contributed offensively and on the bases, recording a double and a stolen base, while Anthony Radice collected two hits behind the plate. Palazzo was aggressive on the basepaths as well, swiping three bases during the contest.
On the mound, Shane Snell delivered a complete-game performance for the Bulldogs. The right-hander tossed all seven innings, allowing just three runs on six hits while striking out four. Snell kept the Onondaga offense under control throughout the afternoon and worked efficiently to secure the win.
