Men’s Soccer Dominates Season Opener with 9–1 Victory over County College of Morris
Randolph, N.J. – The Bergen Community College men's soccer team opened the 2025–26 season in commanding fashion, defeating County College of Morris 9–1 on the road. The Bulldogs' explosive offense was led by sophomore forward Onur Can, who tallied a hat trick and added two assists to pace the win.
Bergen struck early and often, with Can scoring in the 19th and 26th minutes before assisting Daniel Lin on the team's third goal in the 28th minute. Freshman Benjamin Cerda extended the lead to 4–0 just before halftime off a feed from Khalifa Gassama.
The Bulldogs continued their dominance in the second half, with Oscar Gomez, Jonathan Remache, and Can finding the back of the net. Gomez added a second goal in the 79th minute, while Remache capped the scoring with his second tally in the final minute, assisted by Can.
In total, Bergen saw six different players score goals and seven record either a goal or assist. Goalkeepers Dror Cohen had a clean sheet, while earning the win in net.
"This was a strong team performance and an excellent way to start the season," said Head Coach Jonathan Sanchez. "Our players executed on both ends of the field, and this sets the tone for what we hope will be a very successful year."
With the victory, Bergen improves to 1–0 overall and in Region 19 play. The Bulldogs will look to continue their momentum on Thursday, 8/28, when they travel to Middlesex.
