CRABIEL PARK, NJ – Following an impressive season-opening victory over Morris, the Bergen Community College men's soccer team dropped a hard-fought battle on the road Thursday, falling to Middlesex College by a score of 3–2.
The Bulldogs carried their momentum into the match's opening moments when freshman forward Mohamed Saleh scored just eight seconds into play, giving Bergen an early 1–0 lead. Middlesex responded in the 15th minute through Isaiah Scott, but Bergen regained the advantage before halftime thanks to a strike from sophomore midfielder Onur Can in the 39th minute.
Despite holding a 2–1 edge at the break, Bergen could not withstand a second-half surge by the Colts. Scott leveled the match in the 59th minute before Samuel Rodriguez converted in the 72nd minute on a feed from Ezequiel Caballero, securing the 3–2 result.
Goalkeeper Dror Cohen recorded five saves for Bergen, while the Bulldogs fired 12 shots in the contest.
With the setback, Bergen moves to 1–1 overall. The Bulldogs remain on the road next week as they travel to Montgomery, looking to bounce back and continue their strong early-season form.
