PARAMUS, N.J. – The Bergen Community College men's soccer team showcased its offensive power on Saturday afternoon, defeating Harrisburg Area Community College 8–1 at home. With the win, Bergen improves to 3–1 on the season, while Harrisburg falls to 1–2.
The Bulldogs wasted no time setting the tone, scoring three goals in the opening 12 minutes. Kevin Cedeno put Bergen ahead in the 5th minute off a feed from Daniel Lin, followed by strikes from Gianfranco Appezzato (10th minute) and Jonathan Remache (11th minute). Lin added a goal of his own in the 25th minute, assisted by Mohamed Saleh, before Saleh struck in the 36th minute to cap a dominant first half and give Bergen a 5–0 lead at the break.
Harrisburg got on the board early in the second half through Joshua Oliseh, but Bergen quickly regained control. Saleh scored again in the 62nd minute, assisted by Nicholas Betancourt, before Betancourt added his own tally in the 72nd minute off a pass from Remache. Saleh completed his hat trick in the 81st minute, finishing unassisted to close out the scoring.
Saleh led all players with three goals and one assist, while Lin contributed a goal and two assists. Remache added a goal and an assist, and goalkeeper Allenzo Conner earned the win in net.
The Bulldogs dominated statistically, outshooting Harrisburg 35–5 and putting 23 shots on target. Harrisburg goalkeeper Angelo Intriago registered 15 saves under heavy pressure.
Bergen returns to action later this week as it continues its early-season slate against regional opponents.
