Bergen Community College Men’s Soccer Defeats No. 7 Ocean County, Moves Past National Rival
Toms River, NJ–The No. 8 ranked Bergen Community College men's soccer team delivered a commanding 3-0 shutout over No. 7 Ocean County College on the road Tuesday afternoon.
From the opening whistle, the Bulldogs demonstrated poise, discipline, and execution, striking early and never looking back. Sophomore Samuel Solis put Bergen on the board in the 7th minute, finishing a clean pass from Daniel Lin to give the Bulldogs momentum.
Just seconds into the second half, Andre Lucas Santana extended the lead with a goal off an assist from Onur Can, breaking down Ocean's defense and silencing the home crowd. In the 64th minute, Bergen sealed the match when Kevin Cedeno connected on a strike assisted by Nicholas Betancourt, cementing the 3-0 scoreline.
Defensively, Bergen's backline and goalkeeper tandem of Dror Cohen and Johnathan Caceres proved impenetrable, combining for two saves and denying Ocean's limited opportunities. The Bulldogs outshot the Vikings 6-2 and matched them in corner kicks (4-4), showing balance on both sides of the field.
"This was a complete team effort," said Head Coach Jonathan Sanchez. "To go on the road and beat the No. 7 team in the nation speaks volumes about our preparation, resilience, and the belief this group has in one another. It's a signature win for our program and one that will propel us forward."
The victory marks a defining moment in Bergen's season, as they continue to climb the national rankings and make a case as one of the premier programs in Region XIX and across the NJCAA.
