Men’s Soccer Captures Region 19 East District B Championship, Advances to NJCAA Division III National Championship
TOMS RIVER, N.J. (October 31, 2025) —The Bergen Community College men's soccer team made history Friday afternoon, defeating ten-time regional champion Camden County College 2-0 to capture the NJCAA Region 19 East District B Championship and secure a berth in the 2025 NJCAA Division III Men's Soccer National Championship.
The Bulldogs struck early and never looked back. Freshman Daniel Lin opened the scoring just six minutes into the match off an assist from Samuel Chevere. Early in the second half, sophomore standout Onur Can extended Bergen's lead to 2-0 with a goal assisted by Samuel Solis and Steven Carangui, sealing the program's first regional crown since 2016
Goalkeeper Dror Cohen delivered a commanding performance, recording eight saves to preserve the clean sheet, while Bergen out-shot Camden 15-10 and earned four corner kicks to Camden's one.
Following the championship match, Head Coach Jonathan Sanchez was named Region 19 Coach of the Year, recognizing his leadership and the program's resurgence under his direction. Forward Onur Can earned Most Outstanding Player of the Tournament honors for his pivotal offensive contributions and consistent play throughout postseason competition.
"This group has shown heart, discipline, and an unwavering commitment to each other," said Sanchez. "To bring Bergen back to the national stage after so many years is a tremendous accomplishment, and I couldn't be prouder of our players."
With the victory, Bergen advances to the NJCAA Division III Men's Soccer National Championship, set to begin November 11. The Bulldogs will learn their first-round opponent when official brackets are released Tuesday.
