Bergen Men’s Soccer Captures Region 19 Championship, Earns National Tournament Berth; Remache & Sanchez Headline Major Awards
PARAMUS, NJ — Bergen Community College Men's Soccer delivered a historic 2025 season, finishing with a dominant 15-5-1 overall record, including a 12-2-1 mark in conference play, en route to winning the Region 19 Championship and securing a coveted NJCAA National Tournament appearance.
Leading the way, standout midfielder Jonathan Remache was named Region 19 Player of the Year, affirming his status as one of the nation's premier playmakers. Remache earned First Team All-Region and First Team All-GSAC honors after posting 5 goals, 10 assists, and 20 points while starting 15 matches this season.
Head Coach Jonathan Sanchez was recognized as Region 19 Coach of the Year, guiding the Bulldogs to their championship run and national stage appearance with a balanced, dynamic squad.
Bergen showcased multiple high-impact offensive threats, including leading scorer Onur Can, who recorded 15 goals and 5 assists for a team-best 35 points and earned First Team All-Region and First Team All-GSAC accolades.
Defensively, the Bulldogs were anchored by a strong back line and reliable goalkeeping, holding opponents to just 26 total goals with a team goals-against average of 1.33 over 21 matches. Goalkeeper Dror Cohen led the team with 60 saves and four shutouts across 14 appearances.
Midfielder Khalifa Gassama was also honored for his contributions, earning Second Team All-GSAC and Third Team All-Region recognition following a strong two-way campaign.
The Bergen attack ranked among the most dangerous in the region, totaling 74 goals and 197 points, while also netting 16 game-winning goals.
"This group showed tremendous heart and resilience all year," said Sanchez. "Their commitment to each other and to representing Bergen at the highest level is what carried us to a championship and the national tournament. I couldn't be prouder."
With championship hardware and national experience now in hand, the Bulldogs are already preparing for an even stronger 2026 campaign.
