Men's Track & Field Spring 2016 Outlook
Bergen's Men's Track & Field will begin their season when they travel to Elizabethtown College, for the Elizabethtown "Early Bird" Opener.
Paramus, NJ- Bergen's Men's Track & Field team will begin their season by competing in the Elizabethtown "Early Bird" Opener at Elizabethtown College. The Bulldogs are looking to improve on last year's season that sent student-athletes to that NJCAA National Tournament.
The team has a strong sophomore class returning this year. The sophomores have brought last years' experience at nationals to build on this season. Sophomore thrower, Garrett Pynn (Edgewater, NJ) is ready to improve on his third place finish last year in the Shot Put event. Garrett threw a distance of 14.37, which landed him Coaches All-American. He will be leading the throws this year. Isaiah Arnett (Paterson, NJ) of Midland Park HS will be leading the sprint/jump team. Isaiah also brings last years' experience at nationals to the team. He competed in the 4X100 (10th place), but has a new set of sprinters to help him reach nationals again. Isaiah has been a leader on the team and will look to improve on last year's performance. Jonathan Calixte (Spring Valley, NY) and Manuel Familia-Marcelino (Clifton, NJ) also will be back to improve on last years' performance and qualify for more events. They too will be a big part of this years' success.
Bergen also has a fresh crop of freshmen that come to the team after winning the 2015 Region XIX Cross Country Championship. This group of long distance runners are Aneudy Nunez (Hackensack, NJ), Connor McGillick (Saddle Brook, NJ), Porfirio Olivas (Garfield, NJ) and Ryan Reyes (Bergenfield, NJ). They look to bring their success in cross-country to the track & field team.
The Bulldogs have some new freshmen that will look to support the team to a successful season. The new additions to the team are Justin Jusino (Dumont, NJ), Matthew Llauger (Congers, NY), Tyler Olivieri (Ridgefield Park, NJ), & Ivan Reyes (North Bergen, NJ)
