Men's Cross Country Takes First Place in the 2016 Region XIX Tournament
Bergen Bulldogs win back to back region titles after taking first place in the Region XIX Championship Meet on Sunday, October 30th.
Paramus, NJ - Men's Cross Country wins Region XIX Championship this past Sunday. The team advances to the 2016 NJCAA MXC National Tournament on Saturday, Nov. 12 hosted by Finger Lakes CC in Canandaigua, NY.
Freshman, Christopher Loughman (Cliffside Park), made All Region by finishing in fifth place. Head Coach, Deana Dedovitch, earns 2016 Region XIX DIII Men's Cross Country "Coach of the Year".
Freshman, Andy Jaipersaud (Bogota), finished in 10th place. Jaipersaud finished with a time of 29:31.57.
Sophmore, Daniel Silver (Fair Lawn), finished in 11th place. Silver finished with a time of 29:42.05.
Bergen then had a pack coming in right behind the 11th place spot, which led to the championship. Sophomore, Connor McGillick (Saddle Brook), led the pack with a time of 30:03.64 and in 14th place. He was followed by freshman, Joe Lopez, with a time of 30:05.24 (16th place) and clinched the championship.
Freshman, Malhar Vyas, finished in 17th place with a time of 30:11.79. Freshman, Hector Cruz (Paterson), finished in the top 20 in 20th place with a time of 30:31.11. Sophomore, Porfirio Olivas (Garfield), was close behind (23rd place) with a time of 31:03.24.
Freshmen Nikko Reyes (Bergenfield) and Steven Almanzar (Garfield) finished in the top 40.
