Bulldogs Dominate in Region 19 Victory Over Ocean County
TOMS RIVER, N.J. — The Bergen Community College softball team earned a commanding Region 19 victory on Saturday afternoon, rolling past Ocean County College by a score of 15-2 in a five-inning contest. The Bulldogs exploded for eight runs in the first inning and never looked back, securing their second win of the season and first in regional play.
Bergen's offense was relentless, pounding out 17 hits and capitalizing on five Ocean County errors. Sophomore Mary Palazzo led the attack with 3 hits and 2 RBI, while Mallory Mummert went 2-for-4 with a double, an RBI, and 4 runs scored. Eight different Bulldogs registered RBIs, including Rhianna Hernandez, Jilynn Rivera, Ariana Garo, Abriana Rios, and Ava Debaar.
In the circle, Rhianna Hernandez continued her strong season, tossing a complete game. She allowed just 6 hits and 2 earned runs over 5.0 innings, striking out two and issuing no walks. Her efficient effort allowed Bergen to stay in control from start to finish.
The Bulldogs also flexed their speed on the base paths, swiping six stolen bases, including two each by Isabella Lopezand Ava Debaar.
