Bergen Softball Walks Off Middlesex in 13-12 Thriller
PARAMUS, N.J. – Bergen Community College softball earned a dramatic 13-12 victory over Middlesex College on Saturday afternoon in a back-and-forth contest at home. The Bulldogs capped the exciting matchup with a walk-off run in the bottom of the eighth inning to secure their first conference win of the season.
Bergen showed resilience throughout the game, battling back multiple times after Middlesex posted runs in five different innings. After the visitors tied the game in the top of the eighth, Bergen responded in its final at-bat to complete the comeback victory.
Offensively, Bergen collected 13 hits and was led by a huge performance from Katelyn McQuade, who went 4-for-5 with five RBIs and a double. McQuade delivered key hits throughout the game and helped power the Bulldogs' offense in crucial moments.
Kaylen Triana added another strong effort, finishing 3-for-5 with two RBIs and two runs scored. Ava de Baar contributed two hits and drove in two runs, while Angelica Velez scored twice and added an RBI.
In the circle, Helayna Stamm started the game and also helped herself at the plate, going 2-for-4 with a double, two runs scored, and an RBI. Triana entered in relief and picked up the win after working the final four innings.
Bergen was aggressive on the bases as well, with stolen bases from Ariana Garo and Triana helping create scoring opportunities.
