Bergen Softball Defeats Ocean County College, 7-4
PARAMUS, N.J. – Bergen Community College softball earned a strong conference victory on Saturday afternoon, defeating Ocean County College, 7-4, in Region action at home.
Bergen jumped out to an early lead with three runs in the bottom of the first inning and never looked back. The Bulldogs added single runs in the second and sixth innings, along with two more in the fourth, to secure the win.
Ariana Garo led the Bergen offense, going 1-for-3 with three runs scored and a home run. Ava de Baar delivered a perfect day at the plate, finishing 2-for-2 with two runs scored, an RBI, and a sacrifice bunt. Katelyn McQuade added a key contribution with a hit and two RBIs, while Elizabeth Van Der Beek also drove in two runs.
Angelica Velez chipped in with an RBI single as Bergen totaled eight hits in the contest.
In the circle, Kaylen Triana tossed a complete game to earn the win. Triana allowed four hits and four runs over seven innings while striking out four batters.
Ocean County threatened with two runs in the sixth inning, but Bergen's defense held firm to close out the victory.
