Bergen Softball Rallies Past Middlesex, 13-12, in Thrilling Extra-Inning Victory
PARAMUS, N.J. – Bergen Community College softball earned a dramatic 13-12 victory over Middlesex College on Saturday afternoon in an eight-inning battle at home.
The Bulldogs showed resilience throughout the contest, overcoming multiple deficits before securing the walk-off win in the bottom of the eighth inning.
Bergen's offense produced 13 runs on 18 hits, with several players delivering standout performances at the plate. Katelyn McQuade powered the lineup, going 4-for-5 with five RBIs and a double. Kaylen Triana added three hits and two RBIs, while Ava de Baar chipped in two RBIs.
Helayna Stamm contributed both in the circle and at the plate, recording two hits, including a double, and driving in a run. Angelica Velez and Shelby Perez each added key RBIs, while Ariana Garo scored three runs and swiped a base.
After Middlesex plated five runs in the third inning and added late offense to force extra innings, Bergen continued to respond with timely hitting. The Bulldogs scored three runs in the fourth inning, six combined runs in the sixth and seventh innings, and the decisive run in the eighth to complete the comeback.
In the circle, Stamm started the game before Triana came on in relief. Triana worked four innings and helped Bergen hold off Middlesex late to earn the win.
