Bergen Women’s Basketball Rallies Late to Defeat Orange County, 67–63
The Bergen Community College women's basketball team delivered an impressive fourth-quarter comeback to secure a 67–63 home victory over Orange County Community College on Saturday afternoon. With the win, the Bulldogs improved to 2–1 overall.
After trailing by two points entering the final period, Bergen surged ahead behind strong defensive play and timely shooting. The Bulldogs outscored Orange 20–12 in the fourth quarter to seal the victory.
Sophomore Tiara Duran led Bergen with a game-high 21 points, connecting on four three-pointers while adding seven assists and four rebounds in 39 minutes of action. Fonquasia Slade recorded a dominant double-double, posting 18 points and 17 rebounds, while also contributing four assists and four steals. Suzanne Wiktor added 11 points, including three shots from beyond the arc, and Ashley Urquia pulled down 10 rebounds and chipped in 9 points.
As a team, Bergen shot 30 percent from the field and 36 percent from three-point range, while holding Orange County to under 29 percent shooting overall. The Bulldogs' 61–53 rebounding edge and 11 team steals proved pivotal in the comeback effort.
Orange County was led by Adriana Joy with 16 points and Madison Olsen with 15 points and a game-high 16 rebounds.
Bergen will look to continue its strong early-season momentum when it returns to action next week against a Region XIX opponent, Northhampton.
