Bergen Community College Women’s Basketball Secures 69–59 Road Victory Over Sussex
Newton, NJ – November 25, 2025 — Bergen Community College earned an impressive 69–59 road win over Sussex County Community College on Tuesday evening, powered by dominant performances from Fonquasia Slade and Tiara Duran.
The Bulldogs set the tone early, outscoring Sussex 20–10 in the opening quarter and carrying a double-digit lead into halftime. After Sussex surged with a strong third quarter, Bergen responded with a poised and efficient fourth to close out the victory. Forward Fonquasia Slade delivered a standout performance, leading all scorers with 32 points on 15-of-29 shooting while controlling the boards with 18 rebounds. Her inside presence anchored Bergen on both ends of the floor and proved pivotal during key stretches of the contest. Guard Tiara Duran added a dynamic perimeter attack, scoring 23 points, including five three-pointers. Duran's timely shooting helped Bergen withstand Sussex's second-half push and maintain momentum late in the game.
Melony McCormick filled the stat sheet with 5 points, 7 rebounds, and 5 assists. Sonja Syla grabbed 6 rebounds to go along with her 4 points. Carrie Yvonne Perry added 2 points and provided valuable defensive minutes.
