Bergen Wrestling off to a slow start
Paramus, NJ - Bergen wrestling has started off slow this season and are currently on a three game losing streak. They do have some wrestlers who have improved and could be looking at a possible trip to the national tournament in Iowa.
Bergen has lost to Centenary College, USMAPS and most recently to College of Mount Saint Vincent. There next match will be at Williamson Trade, where they hope to change things around facing Valley Forge and the host Williamson Trade.
BCC Athletics recently named Anthony Romero Student-Athlete of the Month (Januaray) for his outstanding wins in January. When Bergen CC traveled to Massachusetts to wrestle Springfield Tech on January 9th, he beat a Christian Antonine (national ranked wrestler) by the score of 9-4. On January 31st, Anthony defeated Camden's David Harris-Norton by the score of 19-3. Anthony shows great leadership both on and off the mat. Anthony is undefeated and has a shot to compete at the national tournament.
Sophomore, James Henry (Hackensack), has also shown that he can compete at a high level. He has defeated Joe Talarowski by Fall at the GSAC Tournament. Also, had a big win versus College of Mount Saint Vincent. He lost to a former BCC All-American, Jeff Rottingen, who is now wrestling for Centenary College.
The Bulldogs will be preparing for the District Tournament on Saturday, February, 13th that will determine who will compete in the national tournament. Go Bulldogs!!!
