Women's Track & Field Nationally Ranked
According to U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association, Bergen's Women's Track & Field has been ranked 7th in the nation in Week #1.
Paramus, NJ - Bergen's Athletic Department received wonderful news about their successful Women's Track & Field team. In week #1. The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association has ranked Bergen women's team #7 in the nation. This is a jump from last year's first week ranking where The Bulldogs were ranked 11th in the nation. The team also received ranking in the East Region, which they are currently ranked 3rd.
So far, Bergen has qualified two women for nationals in the first week. Sophomore, Camille Calupad (Paramus, NJ), has qualified for the second year in a row for nationals in the Pole Vault Event. Camille is currently ranked #1 in the Pole Vault with a height of 2.65m. She is also ranked 10th in the nation in the Javelin event with a throw of (16.64m). Freshman and 1st Team Cross-Country All-American, Justine Conca has also qualified for nationals in both the 1500 meter and 10 K events. Justine is ranked 4th in the nation in the 1500 Meter race (5:29.92). Currently, she is also ranked #1 in the 10,000 Meter race (41.48.54).
Bergen has a few more ladies close to qualifying for nationals. Bergen looks to go to nationals with a strong team this year and improve on last year's national's performance.
Freshman, Faega Fostok (Wayne, NJ), is currently ranked 21st in the nation in the 100 Meters event (14.53). Faega is also ranked 13th in the nation in the Javelin event (12.51m).
First year student-athlete, Jessica Reyes (Cliffside Park, NJ), is currently ranked 15th in the nation in the 800 Meter race (2:59.59) Jessica is also ranked 17th in the nation in the 1500 Meter race (6:26.86). She is also ranked 6th in the nation in the 5000 Meter race (24:52.64).
Sophomore & 1st Team All Region Cross Country runner, Amanda Duran (Hackensack, NJ) is ranked 14th in the nation in the 1500 Meter race (6:20.14). Amanda is also ranked 4th in the nation in the 5000 Meter race (22:55.46).
Sophomore, Melissa Duran (Hackensack, NJ) is ranked 5th in the nation in the 5000 Meter race (24:20.62).
Freshman, Katherine Helewa (Cresskill, NJ) is ranked 7th in the nation in the Shot Put event (9.19m). She is also ranked 7th in the Discus (25.45m) and ranked 12th in the Javelin (13.94m).
Bergen's next meet will have them travel to TCNJ on Saturday, April 8th. Go Bulldogs!!!
