Bergen Volleyball Battles in Five-Set Thriller Against Fashion Institute of Technology
Paramus, N.J. – The Bergen Community College women's volleyball team put forth a determined effort on Thursday evening, taking the Fashion Institute of Technology to five sets before falling 3–2 (19–25, 25–18, 23–25, 30–28, 15–4) in a back-and-forth contest inside the Bulldogs' home gym.
Sophomore Brianna Bermeo powered the Bulldogs' attack with a match-high 17 kills, while also adding 23 digs to record a double-double performance. Hailey Pena anchored the back row with an impressive 28 digs and three service aces, keeping Bergen in several long rallies.
Setter Angela Korca directed the offense with 14 assists, while Daniela Cardona chipped in with 29 digs and a service ace. At the net, Ruby Cuevas contributed three blocks, while Julia Semon added four kills and two aces.
Bergen's resilience was on full display in the fourth set, when the Bulldogs staved off multiple match points and rallied for a dramatic 30–28 victory to force a decisive fifth frame. Despite the momentum, the visiting FIT squad surged ahead in the final set, closing out the match 15–4.
