Bergen Volleyball Sweeps Roxbury
PARAMUS, N.J. – The Bergen Community College women's volleyball team turned in a dominant performance Friday evening, sweeping visiting Roxbury Community College (25-5, 25-10, 25-6) to even its conference record at 5-5 (6-5 overall).
Behind a balanced attack and strong serving, the Bulldogs never allowed Roxbury (0-10, 0-9) to find momentum. Sophomore setter Angela Korca directed the offense with 14 assists and added six service aces, while Hailey Peña proved unstoppable from the service line, recording a match-high 11 aces.
At the net, Valentina Botero led all attackers with five kills on a perfect 1.000 hitting percentage, while also tallying 10 digs and 16 points overall. Grace Dumont and Brianna Bermeo each chipped in five kills apiece, with Dumont hitting a flawless 1.000. Julia Semon contributed four kills, while Yederline Almonte added three assists.
Defensively, Bergen limited Roxbury to just one kill for the match and forced a -.429 hitting percentage. The Bulldogs' aggressive serving kept the visitors on their heels throughout, compiling 36 aces as a team.
