Bergen Women’s Volleyball Rallies Past Passaic for 3–1 Victory
Paramus, N.J. – The Bergen Community College women's volleyball team earned a hard-fought 3–1 victory over Passaic County Community College on Wednesday evening at home, improving their record to 7–6 overall and 5–3 in Region XIX play.
After dropping the opening set 25–20, the Bulldogs responded with determination, winning the next three sets 25–16, 25–20, and 25–17 to close out the match.
Freshman outside hitter Brianna Bermeo powered the Bergen offense with a team-high 13 kills and 17 digs, delivering a strong all-around performance. Daniela Cardona added an efficient eight kills on a .400 hitting percentage while contributing 13 digs on the defensive end.
The Bulldogs' serving game played a pivotal role in the win, as Bergen tallied 23 service aces. Hailey Peña led the charge from the service line with seven aces, while Julia Semon chipped in five aces along with 15 digs. Setter Angela Korca guided the offense with 22 assists and 12 digs to complete a double-double.
On defense, Bergen's back row was outstanding, finishing with 75 digs as a team. Semon, Bermeo, Peña, and Cardona each reached double figures, helping the Bulldogs limit Passaic's attack and build momentum late in the match.
