Bergen Women’s Volleyball Wraps Up Strong 2025 Season with 15 Wins and Region XIX Success
PARAMUS, N.J. – The Bergen Community College women's volleyball team capped off a competitive 2025 campaign with a 15–11 overall record, including an 8–5 mark in Region XIX play. The Bulldogs demonstrated consistency and depth throughout the season, earning key victories at home (7–4) and on the road (7–7) while continuing to solidify their reputation as a rising program in the region.
The Bulldogs' offensive attack was led by sophomore outside hitter Brianna Bermeo, who finished the year with 226 kills and 3.01 kills per set, both team highs. Bermeo also added 243 digs and 30 service aces, proving to be one of Bergen's most well-rounded contributors.
Daniela Cardona provided steady two-way play, totaling 91 kills, 246 digs, and an impressive 40 service aces. Freshman Julia Semon was another offensive force, tallying 116 kills and leading the team in aces with 64, while also ranking among Bergen's leaders in defensive consistency.
At the center of the offense, setter Angela Korca orchestrated Bergen's attack with 427 assists (5.41 per set) and added 213 digs and 33 aces to her stat line. Libero Hailey Peña anchored the defense with 287 digs (3.63 per set) and 80 service aces — the most on the team and among the region's leaders.
Defensively, middle blockers Grace Dumont and Ruby Cuevas combined for 35 total blocks, with Dumont registering 16 and Cuevas leading the team with 19. Their presence at the net gave the Bulldogs an edge against some of the region's toughest opponents.
Overall, Bergen posted 1,024 total points, averaging 10.8 per set, while limiting opponents to a .074 hitting percentage. The team's balance between offensive pressure and defensive resilience made them a consistent threat in every match.
"This group showed tremendous heart and growth all season," said Head Coach Dr. Janet Elder. "They competed in every set and represented Bergen with pride on and off the court."
With several key contributors expected to return and a strong recruiting class on the horizon, the Bulldogs look poised to continue building on their success in the 2026 campaign.
