Bergen Men’s Basketball Earns 80–70 Road Victory at Atlantic Cape
MAYS LANDING, N.J. – The Bergen Community College men's basketball team earned a strong road victory on Tuesday night, defeating Atlantic Cape Community College 80–70 at Atlantic Cape.
Bergen controlled the tempo throughout the contest, taking a 39–35 lead into halftime before outscoring the Buccaneers 41–35 in the second half to secure the win.
Jakai Irby led all scorers with a game-high 27 points on an efficient 9-for-14 shooting from the field, while also adding eight rebounds and six steals in a complete all-around performance. Evan Meberg recorded a double-double for the Bulldogs, finishing with 13 points and a team-high 11 rebounds.
Jarris Bertram contributed 12 points and four rebounds, while Thomas Munoz added seven points and two steals. De'Angelo Hibbert provided a spark off the bench with seven points and four rebounds, and Logan Garcia chipped in four points, two assists, and solid defensive minutes.
Bergen shot 42.4 percent from the field and knocked down six three-pointers, while forcing 26 Atlantic Cape turnovers that led to key scoring opportunities. The Bulldogs also capitalized at the free-throw line, converting 18 attempts to maintain control late in the game.
Atlantic Cape was led by Olyn Knox, who finished with 13 points and 11 rebounds, while Logan Sparks added nine points and 10 rebounds in the loss.
With the win, Bergen continues to build momentum as conference play progresses. The Bulldogs will look to carry that energy into their next matchup as they continue the 2025–26 season.
