Bergen Men’s Basketball Secures 80–74 Victory Over Sussex County
PARAMUS, N.J. (November 20, 2025) — Bergen Community College men's basketball earned a hard-fought 80–74 home victory over Sussex County Community College on Thursday evening, improving their record to 3–4 on the season.
Behind a balanced offensive effort and strong late-game execution, the Bulldogs carried a 38–33 lead into halftime before pushing ahead in the second half to seal the win.
Sophomore guard Jarris Bertram led the way with a team-high 23 points while shooting a perfect 3-for-3 from beyond the arc and adding six rebounds and five assists. Jeremy Polanco was also outstanding with 20 points on efficient shooting, including 3-for-3 from long range.
Bergen received key contributions across the lineup, including Evan Meberg, who posted 11 points, seven rebounds and two blocks, and Jaheim Best, who orchestrated the offense with six assists and added five points and two steals. Xavier Townes and Tyler Brown combined for 15 points and 10 rebounds off the bench, helping the Bulldogs win the battle on the glass and provide valuable second-chance scoring opportunities.
As a team, Bergen scored 23 second-chance points and made all seven of its three-point attempts in the contest.
The Bulldogs return to action next week as they look to build momentum heading deeper into Region 19 play.
